1. The command active till reboot -
#setterm -blength 0


2. In /etc/inputrc, add:
setterm -blength 0


3. In Ubuntu Linux
/etc/inputrc, unmark:
#set bell style none


4. In X Windows - Gnome, uncheck
System -> Preference -> Sound -> System Beep ->Enable System Beep
